My name is Krista. My family and I live and play on the traditional, unceded, ancestral lands of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam people in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. I have lived on these lands all of my life and am grateful for my life here. These lands are a part of me.
I am a contemporary painter and I work with subject matter that allows me to heal and express gratitude in areas in my life that mean something to me. Where I find freedom in its expression and where I can hopefully be an advocate in the subject’s area of influence.
I find freedom in its volume and luminosity. I love its physicality. The challenge, the process, the focus, attempting, attempting again and eventually the reveal of what was to be there the whole time. Gratifying. It’s extremely gratifying to see something manifest through my hands before my eyes and bring something into existence that was never there before.
And it’s like wow – I created that. Cool
